The program is aimed at new Patrol Captains between the ages of 18 and 30 years with limited to moderate experience and aims to broaden lifesaving experiences, develop surf lifesaving skills, provide new experiences and increase lifesaving standards of volunteer surf lifesavers in NSW.
Members from Sydney Northern Beaches and Sydney Branch will have the opportunity to participate in the City to Country Exchange and members from all other branches will have the opportunity to participate in the Country to City Exchange.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Actively patrol beaches at either Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Ballina for country exchange or Bondi, Coogee and Maroubra for city exchange.
- Patrol on surf lifesaving Support Service Jet Boats and Offshore Boats.
- Tour SurfCom and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter base.
- Tour the black spot locations in the Branch.
The program will provide an exciting opportunity for Patrol Captains to challenge their skills by participating in surf lifesaving activities in a new environment and identify initiatives/ methods that can be implemented in their own clubs.
All travel, meals and accommodation will be provided at no cost to participants.

New Zealand Exchange
Participants from the two exchange programs will be given the opportunity to apply for two positions on a lifesaving exchange to Auckland (NZ), to participate in an Intermediate Lifesaving School in March 2014.
Travel and accommodation will be provided at no cost to delegates.
