Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW) has recognised the opportunities that an Exchange Program can offer young athletes and developing coaches.
In its sixth year, the Country Athlete Exchange program aims to deliver excellent development opportunities for twelve (12) country athletes and two (2) coaches by allowing them to experience a different surf club environment. As part of this program the selected group of country athletes will train with a city club squad, compete in a metropolitan competition and patrol at a city beach. Travelling coaches also have the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge by working with the host club and coach.
The Far South Coast, South Coast, Lower North Coast, Mid North Coast, North Coast and Far North Coast Branches will be accommodated by a range of SLSC’s in the Sydney Branch between 22 and 25 January 2014 and have the option to compete at the Manly Open Carnival on Saturday January 25 as well as Freshwater Carnival on Sunday January 26.
Some travel reimbursement will be available as part of the program. Athletes will be billeted with host families with athletes of similar age. Competition costs for MANLY and FRESHWATER CARNIVALS will be covered by SLSNSW.
Applications are now open.
