A major revamp for this event this year, with the two longer swims operating from Horseshoe Beach and finishing by the Rocks on the main beach.
The main event runs from Horseshoe around the headland and Stingray Rock and along Trial Bay Beach, before returning along the beach to the Rocks. This means no need for shuttles to the start at Arakoon. And no relay this season. All events are for individual swimmers.
The 700m swim runs around the point from Horseshoe Bay, and the shortest swim runs out and back on the eastern side of Stingray Rock, like a Sundee surf race.
We love going to South West Rocks. It is an idyllic North Coas fishing/holiday village, sitting quietly at the end of the road so you don't get through traffic. It abuts the mouth of the Macleay River, and we all know what the mouth of the Macleay River means... It means the Riverside Tavern, which is, without doubt, our favourite pub on the NSW coast. There's a pasta meal served at the South West Rocks SLSC after the swim. It's a triffic day out.
