Surf Hazard Rating (SHR) model
During the competition seasons 2013/14 to 2014/15 the Surf Hazard Rating model, was successfully piloted and trialled in surfboat competition as it relates to the wearing of helmets. This research has resulted in SLSA officially introducing a safety helmet policy into surfboat competition using the SHR model at the commencement of the 2015/16 season.
This season the SHR model will be used to gather incident data which will be used to determine threshold values for which the wearing of approved PPE in craft competition will be required.
