$2 Million To Help NSW Lifesavers
Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres has today announced the State Government's Surf Club Facility Grant Program is now open for applications.
Funding of $2 million is available for the grant program and the development of a strategic facility plan for surf clubs.
"Grants of $5,000 to $350 ,000 are available to help surf clubs throughout NSW develop their facilities to increase usage of and safety for their members and the wider community," Mr Ayres said.
"Surf Life Saving NSW provides an amazing service to the people of NSW.
"Not only do they patrol our beaches, saving the lives of locals, visitors and tourists, they provide enormous opportunities for people of all ages to contribute to their community.
"By joining and participating in a local surf club, you'll contribute in a valuable way to the health and safety of our communities.
"You will also increase your self-esteem and maintain health and fitness while enjoying one of our favourite pastimes - going to the beach," said Mr Ayres.
Applications are open for submission from today until 17 October 2014.
Types of projects that will be funded include:
- Construction of new surf club facilities
- Capital enhancement of the facilities at existing clubs
- Providing ancillary and support facilities at existing venues e.g. amenities blocks
