2017 Stramit Country Champs Profile: Sienna Lee

With the 2017 Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships getting underway at South West Rocks tomorrow it’s time to get to know the athletes looking to write their name into the annals of the history of this longstanding and popular event.

Two years ago while competing at the 2015 Country Championships at Mollymook, Cudgen’s Sienna Lee won gold in the U10 Flag event.

Now competing relatively closer to home at the picturesque South West Rocks this talented U12s competitor is relishing the chance to test her skills against the best.

Sienna has been involved in Surf Life Saving for the last five years and as a member of the Cudgen Club can be found doing plenty of hard work in the water ahead of the Championships.

She cites Jordan Mercer as an idol and enjoys the social side of Surf Life Saving and being able to compete, train and have fun with her friends.

I am going to do my best in all events, I won flags in 2015 NSW Country Championships. Top 3 in fastest man on sand (flags -2016 Kurrawa and Coolangatta)

What do you enjoy most about being a member of a Surf Life Saving Club?

Having all my friends with me and competing

How has your training going for Country and the rest of the season?

Lots of board paddling but not much swimming training

Are there any surf athletes you admire or have found to be inspirational and why?

Jordan Mercer is very inspirational to me and the way she trains and competes makes me want to be more like her
