Be Part Of Surf Club Open Day This Sunday
Surf Life Saving Clubs across the state will be welcoming the public on Sunday 18 October to provide an inside look into what being a part of a surf club is all about.
This year’s event marks the fourth year of the program in NSW, and it’s the biggest event to date with 103 clubs participating in Surf Club Open Day.
SLSNSW Director of Member Services, Glenn Langley, said Surf Club Open Day would give the public the opportunity to see the wide variety of activities they could get involved in at a surf club.
“With the lifesaving season kicking off only four weekends ago, it’s still a great time to think about joining a surf club and giving back to the community.
“With more than 77,000 people involved in Surf Life Saving throughout NSW including people of all ages and walks of life, now is the perfect time to join a surf club. There are literally hundreds of volunteer roles to choose from, everything from patrolling the beach on a weekend, to radio communications, administration and fundraising, or managing a team of competitors at a surf carnival. Everyone has what it takes to be a surf lifesaver,” said Glenn Langley.
The participating clubs have been working over the last month preparing for this event and are excited for what the public will experience this weekend.
“There are so many benefits to joining a surf club. Apart from learning vital lifesaving skills, you can get involved with support services such as powered water craft patrols, get fit and healthy participating in surf sports and involve your kids in a fun range of nipper activities that will help their growth and development.
“One of the great things about joining a surf club is that you walk into a ready-made group of friends. It’s also a great way to spend some family time together, while doing something good for the community,” said Glenn Langley.
Surf Life Saving NSW invites you to come down to your local surf club and learn more about who we are, what we do and how you and your family can become involved with our great organisation.
