Beko Best of the Best Surf Boat Challenge

Surf Life Saving NSW is once again presenting the Beko Best of the Best Surf Boat Challenge (BoB) event for the 2015 season.

The BoB final showdown will be contested on Saturday 28 March 2015 at North Narrabeen SLSC (Sydney Northern Beaches).

The BoB brings the top crews from each of the NSW boat series, together to fight it out for the honour of being crowned the ‘Beko Best of the Best’ boat crew for the season.

Best of the Best gives crews the opportunity to gauge how they're performing at the pointy end of the season. Falling in between State Champs and Aussies, it is a great hit out for the top crews trying to keep momentum leading into the season finale on the Gold Coast.

Aside from the bragging rights that come with winning BoB, a prize pool of $10,000 will be on offer. All division winners at the event, have the opportunity to take home the major prize – a new set of Croker oars. There are also sweep oars and rowlocks up for grabs, as well as Engine prize packs and every competitor will receive a t-shirt.

Crews have been racing since November as part of their regional surf boat series with the top boats fighting it out for a berth at the Best of the Best Surf Boat Challenge. The top 12 crews in each division from around the state will be invited to compete in the final showdown of the NSW surf boat racing season.

The event will include all six divisions; Open Men, Open Women, Reserve, U23 Men, U23 Women and U19. Each region has been allocated a certain number of boat crews to attend. The 2015 NSW Championships will also play a key role in the format of BoB with two wild card entries invited following this event.

There is also some good news for crews based outside the Sydney metro region, with SLSNSW subsidising travel costs to attend the event.

Surf Life Saving NSW Sport Manager Shane Knight is hoping the re-vamped event will deliver the state’s high-performing crews some great racing and well-deserved recognition.

“The generous support of Beko this year means we can offer some substantial prizes and holding the event at a top surf venue like North Narrabeen is sure to result in a successful event,” said Shane Knight.
