Best of the Best Boat Showdown

The top surfboat crews in the state put it all on the line to try to claim the title of Best of the Best for 2013.

Under spectacular blue skies, the top crews from each regional and metropolitan branch race series faced-off at Maroubra beach on 24 March 2013 to find out who would take out the title.

Best of the Best is designed to give crews the opportunity to gauge how they're performing at the pointy end of the season. With just weeks to go until the Australian Championships, it's a great hit out for the top crews trying to keep momentum leading into the season finale on the Gold Coast.

The Under 19 Broulee Dim Sims travelled the farthest to compete in Sydney, successfully continuing their winning streak and topping off a superb week where they were announced the recipients of a $3000 Local Sporting Champions grant from the Australian Sports Commission.

The Dim Sims crew of Jack Dunn, Ewen Pollock, Hayden Connor, Jeff Gamble and sweep Rob Pollock are excited about the opportunities the funding will bring.

“All the crew members are doing their final year at school and have exam pressure. This will help the boys enormously and relieve some of the stress with things like travel, accommodation and uniforms. The boys have not missed a final all year and there's no doubt they're in amongst some quality under 19 crews this year for the National Title," said Rob Pollock.
