Country Champs Profile: Lachlan O’Reilly
With the countdown to the 2016 Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships reaching single figures, it is time to get to know the athletes looking to write their name into the annals of the history of this longstanding and popular event.
Lachlan O’Reilly is no stranger to the Country Championship experience having competed every year since he was eligible.
The Coffs Harbour SLSC competitor enjoyed a stellar 2014/15 campaign, which culminated in four medals at the Country Champs held in Mollymook and a 6th place at the Australian titles.
The 17-year-old will be looking to repeat those efforts this season, but knows he faces a tough challenge as he makes the step up to Under 19s.
Having stood on the podium on many occasions throughout his surf life saving career, the talented O’Reilly hopes to experience that feeling again at South West Rocks.
He’s also looking forward to catching up with many of the friends he has made over the years, and getting some racing under his belt before the State and Australian titles later in the season.
