Junior Lifesavers Selected for Talented Athlete Program

Branch junior surf lifesavers have been selected to participate in the NSW Talented Athlete Program (TAP) on October 3 - 5 at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen.

A strong contingent of 44 young surf lifesavers will participate in the NSW Talented Athlete Program (TAP) on October 3 - 5 at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen.

The TAP focuses on developing grass root athletes in NSW. The three day intensive program will also expose the young athletes to some basic sports science and testing using the first class facilities available at the Academy.

SLSNSW Surf Sports Manager, Daniel Pearce said “The Talented Athlete Program is one of our most competitive and sought after camps for our junior athletes. Many of these athletes will go on to represent NSW in future years in the senior ranks.”

The Surf Life Saving NSW Talented Athlete Program consists of the most promising U13-U15 surf sports competitors in NSW. More than 160 nominations for the program were received. Eight elite coaches work with the squad in their chosen disciplines.

The action packed program is supported by NSW Sport and Recreation – SLSNSW State coaches take the squad through surf sports specific training aimed at developing skills, technique and building the athletes’ understanding of the physical training required to reach their goals in surf sports competition.
