Man Drowns At Gordons Bay

Despite the best efforts of off-duty Lifesavers, Lifeguards and Paramedics attempts to revive a man in Sydney’s East on Monday afternoon were unsuccessful.

It is not known how the man got into difficulty while in the water after he was found submerged by a fellow swimmer at around 540AEDT today.

He was pulled onto the nearby rocks where two off-duty members of Clovelly Surf Life Saving club commenced initial CPR treatment.

Lifeguards from Maroubra, NSW Paramedics, and the Surf Life Saving Duty Officer were also quickly on the scene. The NSW Ambulance Helicopter was also tasked to attend along with the onboard doctor.

The responders worked on the man for approximately half an hour but all efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was declared deceased at the scene.

Circumstances surrounding the incident will now be referred to the coroner for further investigation.
