Members Of The Public Perform CPR At Byron Bay Beach
A 92 year old man was pulled out of the surf unconscious and not breathing at Byron Bay's Main Beach on Saturday.
A beachgoer who spotted the man pulled him out of the water and commenced CPR with off duty members of Byron Bay SLSC assisting until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Tweed Coast Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Far North Coast State Duty Officer, Jimmy Keough, praised the quick thinking of the members of the public who responded.
"It was a fantastic effort from the man who pulled the patient out of the water and commenced CPR with help from the volunteers from Byron Bay SLSC. Their quick response really needs to be commended."
