MNC Take on the Best of the Best

It was a real family affair for the Mid North Coast Branch at the 2013 NSW Surf Life Saving Interbranch Championships at Soldiers Beach SLSC on the NSW Central Coast.

The Carrolls, consisting of Ryan, Jessie, Mollie and their Mum Jodie, were all part of the team representing the branch.

From Tacking Point SLSC, Jodie debuted as Team Manager while Ryan competed for the U15s, Jessie for the U13s and Mollie for the U17s.

“The conditions are very choppy and challenging but Mid North Coast is doing well so far. It is good to be able to represent your branch and see how we compare with the city branches. The level of experience and coaching between city and country is very different,” said Ryan.

Jodie believes it was important for the kids to learn about surf safety and that turned into a real lifestyle.

“All our kids started nippers as U6’s as well as doing pool swimming. We decided to all join Dave’s High Performance Squad as a family and he has really help bring the kids to the level they are today,” said Jodie.

With very tricky surf conditions and a strong southerly, branch competitors did well with Ryan Carroll securing second in the U15 swim and board events and Jessie securing fourth in the U13 board.
