North Coast Take on Best of the Best
The North Coast has done their Branch proud at the 2013 NSW Surf Life Saving Interbranch Championships at Soldiers Beach SLSC on the Central Coast.
Up and comer Maddy Gough helped get the North Coast off to a solid start when she took out the U15 Surf Race.
“I really wasn’t thinking about much, it was really choppy. I think I got the right side off the line which was lucky. I didn’t expect to win, but I am so happy and proud to be representing my branch,” said Maddy.
The North Coast was also busy making history with three brothers all selected as part of the team and hoping for four next year.
Jedd, Jonah and Fred Mitchell competed over the weekend with Dad, Barry and younger brother Joe cheering from the sideline.
“I am so proud of the boys. They have all been heavily involved since nippers and my wife and I were nippers ourselves too back in the day,” said Barry.
Fred said it can get competitive amongst the brothers.
“I look up to Jedd and Jonah but one day I reckon I will go better,” said Fred.
Other notable performance from the North Coast included young Sophie Scott taking out third in the U12 Beach Sprint.
