NSW IRB Team Takes on Australia's Best

The NSW IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) team will show off their superior skills racing at the Interstate and Australian IRB Championships this Friday 20 to Sunday 22 July 2012 at Ocean Beach SLSC on the NSW Central Coast.

The 16 strong Interstate team, a hand-picked, high performance group of drivers and crews from a number of the top performing clubs in NSW, will fight it out against arch rivals Queensland who narrowly stole the 2011 title on a technicality.

Surf Life Saving NSW Surf Sports Manager Dan Pearce is hoping to bring the trophy home this year.

“The standard of NSW IRB racing is the highest it has ever been, we have a very strong NSW team who have put in the hard work. We will put up a good fight to win back the title.

“The IRB Interstate trophy is the only one we are missing from the collection and it would be great to put it in our trophy box where it belongs,” said Dan Pearce.

“In the lead up to the Interstate Championships, team members contested the NSW IRB Premiership Series, State Championships and numerous High Performance training camps to improve their racing skills and ensure that they are at their peak for the big event this weekend.”

Team members will go on to compete for their own clubs on Saturday and Sunday in the National IRB Championships.
