NSW Lifesaver Wins Water Safety Award
Surf Life Saving NSW’s own Lifesaver of the Year, Allan Davis from Crowdy Head SLSC, has picked up the Most Significant Contribution to Water Safety by an Individual at the 2014 NSW Water Safety Awards.
Allan has been a passionate and dedicated member of Crowdy Head SLSC since joining in 1988. He was awarded Life Membership of Crowdy Head during the 2013-14 season and as Club President, led Crowdy Head through their most successful season in over a decade.
The NSW Water Safety Awards honour individuals and organisations for their respective contribution to aquatic education and water safety.
Allan has contributed to the aquatics industry in numerous ways including volunteering 112.5 hours of patrol service in the 2013/14 season, and an average of 89 hours of service over the four years prior to that.
Allan is a Lower North Coast Branch Duty Officer as well as the current Director of Administration and volunteer with the Branch Support Operations team, in addition to his Club responsibilities. Allan has also volunteered as an Age Manager for the Club’s Nipper program, ensuring the next generation receive vital surf life saving skills and education.
Forster SLSC was also recognised at the 2014 NSW Water Safety Awards with a High Commendation in the Local Community Initiative of the Year category for their Surf Awareness School Program. The program aims to educate children and their parents from inland NSW about surf safety.
