NSW Surf Patrol Season Launch
NSW Police Minister, Michael Gallacher, will officially raise the first flags of the patrol season at Dee Why SLSC on Friday 21 Sept 2012.
The Minister will be joined by Olympic Gold Medal kayaker and surf lifesaver, Murray Stewart.
From Saturday 22 September, over 20,000 volunteer surf lifesavers will hit beaches across the state, patrolling on weekends and public holidays through until the end of April 2013.
Last year more than 8000 lives were saved along our coastline thanks to volunteer surf lifesavers in NSW, while membership numbers across the organisation have just hit an all-time high of 75,700, including more than 30,000 nippers!
This year’s Raising of the Flags coincides with the 100 year anniversary of the Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club.
