Round 2 of NSW IRB Heads To Forster
The second round of the NSW IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Premiership will look to kick off the Series at Forster on the Lower North Coast this weekend (18-19 May).
The majority of round 1 of the series was postponed due to rough conditions at Mollymook Beach and is also scheduled to run in Forster on Sunday.
Forster SLSC along with the ongoing support of Great Lakes Tourism will host over 240 competitors from 21 clubs will put their hard work and training to the test as the crews fight it out for the top spots.
Forster SLSC President John Quinn is excited to once again be hosting such a big event in the club’s backyard.
“We’ve been doing plenty to get ready for this weekend. It’s a great event here, we’ve got a great work and support crew and the beach is perfect for spectators. Hopefully the conditions are kind to us but we’re really looking forward to it.”
South Coast club Kiama Downs dominated the Premiership last year and hopes to repeat its performance and take out the overall point-score again in 2013. Main challengers will be Thirroul (Illawarra Branch) who won the competition in 2011 and was second in the overall point-score last year and North Cronulla who finished only one point behind Thirroul.
Forster SLSC and Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC will be flying the flags for the local Lower and Mid North Coast Branches.
Clubs competing in Round 2 include: Avalon Beach, Catherine Hill Bay, Caves Beach, Coogee(NSW), Forster, Kiama Downs, Long Reef, Merewether, North Avoca, North Cronulla, Narrabeen, North Steyne, Queenscliff, Shellharbour, Soldiers Beach, South Maroubra, Terrigal, Thirroul, Woonona and Wauchope Bonny Hills.
