Ryan Rosenbaum Awarded For Innovative Public Safety
Australian Lifesaver of the Year, Ryan Rosenbaum, has been awarded the Australian 2014 Young Public Safety Innovation Award.
The award recognises and rewards young Australians who have demonstrated an innovative design improving public safety.
Ryan has been involved with the inception of two key processes that have improved the performance and service delivery of surf life saving emergency service first responders including the establishment of the first external Lifeguard Service in NSW to utilise the SLSNSW radio network as well as assisting in the development of text messaging services for duty officers increasing the call out capability during emergencies.
Accepting his award in Melbourne in front of many of his emergency service peers, Ryan praised surf life saving.
“I’m so happy to be recognised for such a prestigious award. I couldn’t have achieved any of this if it wasn’t for the unwavering support from Surf Life Saving NSW, my branch as well as my club, Tacking Point SLSC. The opportunities within surf life saving are endless and the support is there for whatever you want to achieve,” he said.
While the official lifesaving season has concluded, Ryan has a busy schedule during the offseason including attending the National Drowning Prevention Summit and SLSNSW State Lifesaving Conference and facilitating a number of courses including the RWC course, Silver medallion and Duty Officer Workshops.
