Search Underway For Missing Swimmer At Maroubra
Surf lifesavers, police, and the NSW ambulance helicopter are currently involved in a major search operation after a teenager went missing while swimming at Sydney’s Maroubra Beach on Tuesday evening.
NSW Police are coordinating the multi-agency search with surf life saving assets from the Sydney Branch providing support as required.
Early reports suggested that two male swimmers had got into difficulty in a rip current at the southern end of the beach at around 8:30pm, and a third swimmer had gone into assist before also getting into difficulty.
After one of the swimmers successfully made it back to shore it was later established that one person was still missing.
It is understood that the missing swimmer is 15-years-of-age.
Surf Life Saving NSW will continue to provide all necessary assets as requested by NSW Police with the search expected to continue for as long as conditions permit.
