Snorkeller Pulled From Water

A man has been transported to hospital by ambulance after being pulled unconscious from the water at Cape Banks near La Perouse on Thursday.

The man believed to be in his 50s was snorkelling with friends when he got into difficult at around midday.

His friends were able to pull him to a nearby rock platform and get him out of the water where they immediately started performing CPR.

One of the group raced ahead and alerted the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter crew who are based nearby to the drama.

The crew were on-scene within minutes and the man was winched aboard the aircraft and taken back to the base where paramedics and others waited to continue treatment.

He was transported to hospital in an unknown condition.
