Success at Beko Best of the Best

The state’s elite surfboat crews put on performances to remember at the 2016 Best of the Best Surfboat Challenge, proudly supported by Beko for the second year.

Hosted again by the North Narrabeen SLSC, the event was hailed a big success with the most competitive field of crews lining up for many years.

Conditions were near perfect with a small wave giving crews the chance to go flat out, fully testing rowers’ fitness, strength and teamwork skills.

With just weeks to go until the Aussies on the Sunshine Coast, the Best of the Best was a great season finale for NSW crews gearing up for the national event. The top performing crews in each of the regional surfboat series are invited to attend with the limited slots in high demand this year.

Sydney Northern Beaches clubs dominated most divisions of racing with the Bulli boys remaining unbeatable in the Open Men.

Southern Sydney clubs keep the pressure on with Nth Cronulla and Cronulla crews performing at their best.

South Maroubra’s young Under 19 crew, the Rookies, were pretty happy to win their division, but became ecstatic when they also won the draw for the Beko Bucks - $5000 to spend on Beko appliances to kit out their club.

Warriewood SLSC’s Business Time crew won the $3000 draw and Bulli took home a voucher for $1000.

SLSNSW’s Sport Manager Rob Pidgeon thanked the North Narrabeen SLSC volunteers for a huge effort hosting the prestigious carnival for another year.

Final results can be found on the event page.
