Surf Patrol Season Ends This Sunday

The 2013-2014 volunteer patrol season ends this Sunday 27 April with the state's surf lifesavers taking down the flags on all beaches across NSW.

Provisional statistics reveal that dedicated lifesavers have performed 4644 rescues and responded to 401 calls for assistance to the Surf Emergency Response System with the current coastal drowning toll standing at 23.

Surf Life Saving NSW President, Tony Haven is proud of the efforts of all members.

"Thank you to all our volunteers who have given up their time to keep our beaches safe this season.

"The current drowning toll of 23 is well below that of last years 48 and is testament to the hard work and skills displayed by our members and services," said Mr Haven.

The 2014-2015 Patrol Season will commence on Saturday 20 September 2014.
