NSW State Operations Centre Open Day
Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of Surf Life Saving? The Surf Life Saving NSW State Operations Centre is opening its doors on Saturday 29 November to visitors and members of all ages.
The State Operations Centre (SurfCom) provides communication support between Lifesaving Clubs, Support Operations, Rescue Helicopters, Lifeguard Services, Local Authorities, Police, Ambulance, Fire and other Emergency Services.
Come down to see everything from surf club sign-ons, to the most dangerous rescues involving multiple agencies; all monitored and coordinated through the State Operations Centre and SurfCom Warringah.
With 469 calls from NSW Police and over 400 ambulances tasked through SurfCom in the 2013/1014 season, the team can handle anything from stubbed toes to spinal injuries and missing persons.
The open day will give people a genuine feel for the challenges and excitement of surf lifesaving.
All of our SurfCom Operators are dedicated volunteers. If you feel inspired to become a part of our team be sure to check out our Get Involved page.
