Taree Old Bar SLSC Gets a Helping Hand
Administrators have been appointed at Taree-Old Bar SLSC to assist the club in its current operations and planning for the future.
Following the Surf Life Saving NSW August Board Meeting it was resolved that Taree-Old Bar SLSC will be placed into administration in line with Section 54 of the Surf Life Saving NSW Constitution (Authority to Appoint Administrator). This process will take place at a Special General Meeting which to be held on Saturday 14th September at 12pm in the Taree-Old Bar SLSC Auditorium.
At this Special General Meeting the current executive will stand down, and two very experienced and respected volunteer surf lifesavers will be appointed as administrators. Jan Clingeleffer (Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC) will take on the role of President and oversee the leadership and administration of the club, and Mick Lang (Tacking Point SLSC) will take on the operational administrator role overseeing lifesaving, education, surf sports and member development.
After the Special General Meeting, a club open forum will be hosted by Jan and Mick where they will share their plans and priorities for revitalising Taree-Old Bar SLSC. An update on current activities such as patrol rosters, training courses and financial processes will also be shared at this time. Members are strongly encouraged to attend this forum.
In the lead up to the season start, the administrators will engage members to assist with various roles within the club including lifesaving, education and Junior Activities.
The club has between 150 and 200 members and around 40 active patrolling members. Financially the club is in a solid position, the move to appoint administrators is to resolve some administrative issues, introduce a new constitution and better position the club to grow in the future and continue to serve its members and the community.
SLSNSW has been working with the club’s executive for some months and it is hoped that putting administrators in place for the next 12 months will give the club an opportunity to consolidate some of its administrative and operational processes and procedures.
