Vale: John Robins

It is with great sadness we share the tragic news that dedicated Avoca clubbie, John Robins, passed away in a freak surfing accident in Western Australia this week.

John has been heavily involved in all aspects of surf lifesaving at Avoca Beach for the last five years and assisted with a number of major rescues.

He was named Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club’s Recruit of the Year in his first year at the club and was much loved by all at the club.

Surf Life Saving Central Coast Director of Lifesaving, Brett Beswick had nothing but praise for his fellow club mate who loved the ocean, surf life saving and surfing.

“John was a great bloke. He loved to surf big heavy waves, but most of all loved being in the water with mates. I’m absolutely shocked to hear of this tragic accident.

“John was an active member at the club and he was always happy to lend a hand. The surf club and the Avoca surfing fraternity have lost a great bloke this week,” said Brett.

Our sincere condolences to his wife Jackie, two daughters, friends and fellow clubbies.
