IRB CREW

COURSE PURPOSE

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in surf rescue operations.

PREREQUISITES

·   A candidate must be a minimum of 15 years of age

·   Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public

    Safety (Aquatic Rescue) prior to starting training for this

    award.

ELEMENTS

·   Demonstrate pre-operation procedures

·   Crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat

·   Perform emergency drills

·   Conduct IRB rescues, search and recovery

·   Demonstrate post operation service and storage

Duration: Approx. 8-10 sessions

Location: Courses are run by Nationally recognised Trainers and Assessors to members of affiliated clubs

** INTEREST **

The IRB Crew course content in the past was part of the Bronze Medallion. It has more recently moved to be a specific award with the increase of importance of the role within lifesaving operations
