COURSE PURPOSE

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in surf rescue operations. Click here for Course Resources

PREREQUISITES

·   A candidate must be a minimum of 15 years of age ·   Hold a current SLSA Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public     Safety (Aquatic Rescue) prior to starting training for this     award.

ELEMENTS

·   Demonstrate pre-operation procedures ·   Crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat ·   Perform emergency drills ·   Conduct IRB rescues, search and recovery ·   Demonstrate post operation service and storage

Duration: Approx. 8-10 sessions Location: Courses are run by Nationally recognised Trainers and Assessors to members of affiliated clubs

The IRB Crew course content in the past was part of the Bronze Medallion. It has more recently moved to be a specific award with the increase of importance of the role within lifesaving operations
