RESCUE WATER CRAFT OPERATORS

COURSE PURPOSE

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage a RWC in lifesaving operations.

PREREQUISITES

A candidate must be a minimum of 18 years of age on the final date of assessment
-  Hold a current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
-  Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate
-  Hold a current Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public Safety

   (Aquatic Rescue)
-  Hold a current Silver Medallion Patrol Captain/Basic Beach

   Management
-  Hold a current NSW Maritime General Boat License
-  Hold a vehicle license with tow capability

ELEMENTS

·         Demonstrate pre and post-operation procedures

·         Perform a rescue as an operator

·         Communicate actions effectively

·         Demonstrate emergency operator responses when

          required

·         Demonstrate the rollover procedures

·         Determine current location, destination and resources

·         Determine and plan a safe course

·         Navigate to destination and return to port

·         Complete post navigational activities

        None

Duration: Courses run for 35 hrs + 20hrs practical (approx)

Location: Courses are run by professional Nationally Recognised Trainers and Assessors to members of affiliated clubs and Lifeguards
