AGE MANAGER GUIDELINES Age Managers have a vital role in caring for and nurturing future surf lifesavers. They are important to the growth, retention and development of our junior members. 2009 NSW WATER SAFETY AWARDS The NSW Water Safety Advisory in conjunction with AUSTSWIM, are calling for nominations for the 2009 NSW Water Safety Awards. This year the awards are to be focused at a local community level. SLSNSW strongly encourages branches and clubs to nominate worthy individuals, groups and local organisations (eg club and branch) for projects, initiatives and actions performed at a local level. BEACH TO BUSH PRESENTERS WANTED - APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSING! SLSNSW is seeking applications from qualified surf lifesavers to be presenters of the Telstra Beach to Bush program, which runs from 2-6 November. Telstra Beach to Bush is a very successful national program, delivering the surf safety message to primary aged children, many of whom have never been to the beach! All expenses will be paid, plus extra. This year we will be travelling to great places, including Blayney, Glen Innes, Orange, Coonabarabran, Bourke, Wagga Wagga, Crookwell and Tumut. If you are interested, complete the application form and return to SLSNSW.
TALENTED ATHLETE PROGRAM SLSNSW is seeking nominations for talented athletes aged 13 -15 years of age to participate in a Talented Athlete Program in October at Narrabeen in Sydney. The program will include training sessions with state coaches, analysing technique and improving skills across all disciplines. The program will also consist of athlete education sessions involving nutrition, recovery and team building. For a nomination form and more information please click here.
SIR ADRIAN CURLEWIS SCHOLARSHIP - CLOSES NEXT WEEK! The Sir Adrian Curlewis Scholarship is at the peak of the SLSA Leadership Development pathway which provides members with opportunities to develop themselves as leaders within surf life saving and beyond. Surf Life Saving NSW seeks nominations from interested members aged 21 years and over. Nominations close at Surf Life Saving NSW on 28 August 2009. Click here for more information.
PROHIBITED EMPLOYMENT DECLARATION FORMS The season is fast approaching, and a membership form must be completed and signed by all members at the beginning of each season whether joining, renewing or transferring membership. In addition to this SLSA form, a prohibited employment declaration form must be signed annually and must be recorded on Surfguard. If applicants do not complete this form, their membership application/renewal will not be accepted. Please refer to the circular for a copy of the forms and processing requirements.
OFFICIALS FOR AUSTRALIAN IRB CHAMPS SLSA is calling for nominations from all currently licenced Level 3 SLSA Surf Sports Officials for the position of Referee for the 2010 and 2011 Australian IRB Championships. The 2010 Championships will be held at Penguin, Tasmania on 16-18 April 2010; details of the 2011 Championship are to be confirmed. Click here to view the SLSA circular.

All clubs and branches are to ensure they comply with the Lifesaving Standard Operating Procedures concerning water safety requirements for junior aquatic activities.
