NSW DEPARTMENT OF SPORT AND RECREATION - LIFESAVING GRANT ARRIVES
SLSNSW is pleased to announce that the Circular on the 2008/09 NSW Department of Sport and Recreation is available - you'll find all the relevant information by clicking on the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation Lifesaving Grant link in Circulars & Memos above. A form has been included for your club to fill out. Be sure to read the Circular to see how your club can make the most of this essential funding.

LIFESAVING SERVICE AGREEMENTS - DUE BY MONTH END
Surf clubs, support operations and branches are reminded that Lifesaving Service Agreements are due at Surf Life Saving New South Wales by no later than the 1st September 2008. Click here to see the full memorandum.

PATROL SEASON AND PUBLIC HOLIDAY DATES FOR 2008-09
The NSW Surf Life Saving patrolling season starts on Saturday 27th September 2008 and ends on Sunday 26th April 2009. Various
public holidays fall within this season and your club will need to add these to patrolling calendars. Click here to see the full memorandum.

ATTENTION ALL OFFICIALS AND COACHES - CURRENT AND BUDDING - MNC AND FNC AREAS
Sports coaches and officials have the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge when North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) delivers the NCAS Coaches and Officials Conference 2008. Attendance at this course will provide current coaches and officials with points needed for the re-accreditation process. The two-day conference will be held at the NSW Sport & Recreation Centre at Lennox Head on 6-7 September, 2008. The seven topics covered in the coach conference program include Skill Acquisition, The Essence of Coaching, Basic Anatomy & Biomechanics, Nutrition for Sport, Introduction to Physiology, Program Management and Sports Safety. To cater for officials, the conference will offer an officials stream on Sunday which will include Communication Skills and Conflict Resolution. SURFBOAT SWEEP ACCREDITATION
Surf Life Saving Australia has introduced a compulsory Sweep Accreditation Scheme to ensure sweeps achieve a required level of competence and understanding for the activities and competitions they undertake. From the 2007/2008 season onwards, all novice surfboat sweeps will be required to comply with a range of competencies. The full list is here.

2008 SURF SPORTS CONFERENCE - REGISTER BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1, 2008
A quick reminder that the 2008 Surf Sports Conference at the Gold Coast is coming up in September this year. Be quick and register before 1st September to secure yourself a place at this exciting event!

UPDATE YOUR CLUB DETAILS IN SURFGUARD
It's that time of year when SLSNSW requires all of your updated club information including names and contact details of office bearers etc. This year we are using Surfguard to update these important details - you'll find the

MARCOOLA SLSC YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Marcoola SLSC is interested in establishing a close relationship with NSW Club/s to work together in providing some lifesaving exchange programs for young members. Ideally the exchange would provide young members with the experience of patrolling on a beach with different conditions, people and equipment. They are interested in forming an arrangement that suits all parties. For

LIFEGUARDS - ALL AREAS
The Australian Lifeguard Service is a division of Surf Life Saving, designed to provide Lifesaving Services to local government, private corporations and the community. The Australian Lifeguard Service is the largest provider of professional lifeguards in Australia.
We are currently seeking the services of duly qualified people to perform Lifeguard duties in various areas from 29th September, 2008 to 24th April, 2009, during the Summer months and Christmas School Holidays. Lifeguard information and application packs can be downloaded from our website:

PORT STEPHENS We are currently seeking a motivated Lifeguard Supervisor with strong technical and management skills to join our team at Port Stephens. Reporting to the State Lifeguard Officer, you will play a key role within the team working closely with internal and external stakeholders, particularly lifeguards, local government,media, land managers and local surf lifesaving clubs. SENIOR ACCOUNTS CLERK/BOOKKEEPER
We are currently seeking a self motivated, full time Senior Accounts Clerk/Bookkeeper experienced in all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day functions within the organisation including but not limited to:
• Printing and reconciling payables and receivables reports
• Reconciling supplier statements
• Purchase orders, invoicing and supplier payments
• Preparation of monthly reconciliations
• Deal with all accounts queries both internally and externally
• Processing invoices and statements
• Ad hoc administrative tasks
The successful candidate will be confident with strong accounts experience along with excellent attention to detail and time management skills. FIRST AID TRAINER
Surf Life Saving Services (a division of Surf Life Saving NSW) is a dynamic and professional Registered Training Organisation delivering First Aid & Advanced Emergency Care programs. In order to meet growing demand, we are seeking a highly driven First Aid Trainer to join the commercial First Aid Training operation. Reporting to the Manager – Commercial Education and Training, you will possess a thorough knowledge and experience in First Aid Training with lifeguarding experience and/or Surf Life Saving knowledge being an advantage. In addition, you will hold a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training as well as a current Senior First Aid certificate.
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the AQTF and the operational requirements of a Registered Training Organisation. This position will also see you providing support for accredited volunteer training, and as such you will need to be flexible and willing to commit to meeting the needs of our clients. AQUATIC SAFETY OFFICER
We are currently seeking a motivated Aquatic Safety Officer with strong communication skills to join our Lifesaving Services Team. Reporting to the Manager, Lifesaving Services, you will play a key role within the team working closely with both internal and external stakeholders. Your primary responsibilities will be to:
· Develop and implement Drowning Prevention Plans
· Develop and maintain education and information sessions on Drowning Prevention
· Investigate and report on coastal drownings
· Coordinate Drowning Prevention activities
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, hard working and have an understanding of Surf Life Saving and not for profit organisations. You will also have a knowledge of Risk Assessment practices, the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, a high level of written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Endurance 2008 SLSNSW ANNOUNCES 2008 NSW ENDURANCE
CHAMPIONSHIP - 11 OCT, 2008, CRONULLA SLSC

If you're keen to enter the 2008 NSW Endurance Championships, which will run on 11 October 2008
at Cronulla SLSC, make sure you get your entry in soon. You'll find all the information you need,
including event details and application form in this circular. This event, which is open to the public and offers both running, surf swimming, board and ski events, always draws a big crowd. Age groups for the run include divisions for the U15, U17, U19, Opens, 30-39 Masters, 40-49 Masters,

FORSTER SLSC WEEKEND OF THE SURF 4-5 OCTOBER, 2008
This weekend of sporting competition and entertainment is on again and this year the club is inviting entries to run, swim, board and ski events that will run over during 4-5th October 2008. Entries and payments to be submitted by Monday 29th September 2008.
There will be a Lucky Draw for ‘KRACKA’ Board, sausage sizzle and host of events for all ages from under 10s to over 50s.

UMINA BEACH SAND SLOG - 5km & 10km BEACH RUN - 28 SEPTEMBER 2008
This hard and soft sand fun run on Umina Beach aims to raise money and awareness for Umina SLSC. The race starts at 10am sharp on the beach outside Umina surf Club. Registration will be on the ground floor of the clubhouse. Among the prizes awarded on the day will be the Inter-Surf Club Challenge, where the first five members of a surf club in the 10km race win the trophy. Shoes are optional. For full details

WAUCHOPE BONNY HILLS SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB WILL BE CELEBRATING ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY
This special celebration will take place from the 17 to 19 October 2008.The 'new' club of Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC (patrolling at Rainbow Beach Bonny Hills) restarted the defunct Wauchope Surf Life Saving Club that patrolled Nobby's Beach in Port Macquarie from 1927 to 1937 when it folded prior to WWII.
We plan to have a get-together on the Friday night (17th) at the clubhouse, a dinner at Wauchope RSL Club on Saturday (18th) and a Barbeque Breakfast and Fun-Day with plenty of reminiscing at beautiful Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills on Sunday (19th). A 50 Year Anniversary Book of 160 Pages is being published with a DVD and CD that includes around 400 photos. All Members,ex-members and supporters are invited to celebrate with us.
