NEWS

NAVIGATION LIGHTS FOR SURF BOAT ROWING
NSW Maritime has recently overhauled marine safety including an increase in night-time patrols, with blitzes on vessel lights. This directly affects surf boats operating in non-daylight hours. To ensure clubs satisfy these requirements, all boats must have a torch or lantern ready to display in time to prevent a collision. If a surf boat is regularly operating in non-daylight hours on a busy passage of water, it is highly recommended Surf Boats should exhibit two all-round lights either continuous, or combination of continuous and flashing white lights, positioned at either end. These are available through contacting
Rowing NSW or The Boat Shop.

THE LIQUOR ACT 2007 - UPDATE
The new Liquor Law reform became effective from 1 July 2008. The Office of Liquor and Gaming and Racing (OLGR) is offering a number of
Fact Sheets and Application Forms that may be helpful. In many cases, applications for new liquor licences and changes to existing licences will require a Community Impact Statement (CIS). A toolkit is available to help complete the CIS process. The Office advises that some of its website pages have changed. Please update the address in your 'favourites' or 'bookmarks' in your browser. The Director of Liquor and Gaming has issued guidelines on intoxication. These are now available on the Office website.
The OLGR is inviting comment on the
Draft Guidelines on the promotion of liquor – so if your club has issues email your comments to the office before 31 August 2008. The guidelines will be finalised and published in September 2008.
The Office has published more application forms on its website. In coming months, the Office will introduce 'fillable' or 'interactive' application forms - like the CIS Toolkit - that you can complete online . In the meantime, please use the printable forms as published on our website.
