TENDERS CALLED FOR AUSSIES IN 2010
Surf Life Saving Australia announced on Wednesday 2 July 2008, that it would call for tenders for the right to host the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in 2010. In 2007 the championships won the prestigious Western Australian Tourism Award in the Major Festivals and Events category, while an independent economic study found that they were worth more than $23 million to the Western Australian economy that year.
Communities from around Australia have expressed interest in hosting the event since it was announced earlier this year that various financial, logistical and environmental requirements at the planned site in Coffs Harbour meant it would not be ready in time for the 2010 event. Surf Life Saving Australia is calling for tenders for the right to host this event in 2010 with options for an additional one or two years. Invitations to tender have been issued to all state governments. An external probity auditor will be used to supervise the tender process, which SLSA expects will be complete by mid August, with a final decision expected to be announced in September.

UPDATES

WILL YOU BE IN THE NSW STATE TEAM FOR 2009? CLICK HERE AND READ THIS!!
The 2009 Interstate Championships, to be held at Scarborough, WA, during the 2009 Aussies. The event will run on Wednesday 19th March 2009 and potential NSW coaches and competitors should consider if they'll need to get to WA for the Interstate competition and, if so, book their travel and accommodation now. Athletes need to be at Scarborough no later than 12.00pm (AWST) on Tuesday 18th March and they’ll need easy access to their craft from their club's shipping containers.
If you're competing in the Interstate Championships, you'll still be able to progress through the Thursday rounds of the Aussies. If you compete in the flags at Interstate, for example, you'll automatically progress through that event's heats for the Australian Championships on that day. If your event is not run during the Thursday of the Aussies (i.e. is conducted on the Friday or Saturday) you will be seeded through to the second round of competition.

Collecting these details will allow for direct DEPOSITS only into the accounts. If you are having any difficulty with the above, please contact your SurfGuard Support person OR the SurfGuard Helpdesk on
