2009 JUNIOR LIFESAVER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Surf Life Saving NSW invites nominations for the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Award. The Award is a great way for clubs and branches to recognise their outstanding Under 14s and the contributions they have made to surf lifesaving and the community.

NATIONAL LEADERSHIP COLLEGE - APPLICATIONS CLOSE AT BRANCH NEXT WEDNESDAY!
The 2008 National Leadership College will be held from 1 - 6 December at Sydney University and is specially designed to further develop member skills in leadership. This is a great membership development opportunity for your club's future leaders. Nominations close at Branch on October 22 and at SLSNSW on October 31, 2008.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT BY NOWRA-CULBURRA SLSC MEMBER
Congratulations to Tyler Wright who won the Beachley Surf Classic Women's World Surfing Tour at Manly last Monday. At just 14 she is the youngest surfer to win a women's world surfing event.

VOLUNTEER GRANTS PROGRAM 2008
The Australian Government is inviting applications for funding under the Volunteer Grants Program 2008. The program provides funds to eligible organisations with volunteers actively working in the community. Organisations can apply for up to $5000 to support the work of volunteers, including purchasing small equipment and sporting items, or contributing to fuel costs. Applications close Friday 17 October, 2008.

NSW ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

WATER SAFETY EDUCATORS WANTED
We are looking for volunteers from all areas of the state who would be prepared to give a talk about water safety and lifesaving at schools or community centres. We'll provide you with all the props you need! Email our Education Manager if you can help.

LIFESAVING SERVICE AGREEMENTS ARE NOW OVERDUE
Surf clubs, support operations and branches are reminded that Lifesaving Service Agreements were due at Surf Life Saving New South Wales by 1 September 2008. If you are yet to complete this requirement, please do so as soon as possible.

SLSNSW AND LAERDAL AUSTRALIA - CLUBS ORDER ONLINE FOR GREAT DISCOUNTS
A new online ordering system has been launched by SLSNSW and Laerdal Australia which will streamline the process of purchasing first aid training and rescue equipment. Great discounts are available to clubs.

UPDATE YOUR CLUB DETAILS IN SURFGUARD
It's that time of year when SLSNSW requires all of your updated club information including names and contact details of office bearers etc. This year we are using Surfguard to update these important details - you'll find the
full instructions here. The circular with all the relevant information is also included under the Circulars & Memos heading above. Please remember that we need your contact information to be up to date as this is a requirement to ensure continued funding. Thank you in advance.

2008/09 NSW SURF PREMIERSHIP SERIES
Changes have been made to the entry information for the Surf Premiership Series. The changes affect Under 13 and Under 14 competitors. Click here to read the circular.

LIFEGUARDS - ALL AREAS
The Australian Lifeguard Service is a division of Surf Life Saving, designed to provide Lifesaving Services to local government, private corporations and the community. The Australian Lifeguard Service is the largest provider of professional lifeguards in Australia.
We are currently seeking the services of duly qualified people to perform Lifeguard duties in various areas from 29th September, 2008 to 24th April, 2009, during the Summer months and Christmas School Holidays. Lifeguard information and application packs can be downloaded from our website:

We would like to wish all NSW competitors in the gruelling Coolangatta Gold Ironperson event, the best of luck on October 18 and 19 on the Gold Coast.

SYDNEY WATER SURF CLUB PREMIERSHIP 2008/09
Hosted by Illawarra and South Coast Branches, the first of four rounds of the premiership kick off on November 8, 2008. The series includes events for U8s to Masters and up for grabs is more than $30,000 in cash and prizes. Entries close Friday 24 October.

WAUCHOPE BONNY HILLS SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB WILL BE CELEBRATING ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY
This special celebration will take place from the 17 to 19 October 2008.The 'new' club of Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC (patrolling at Rainbow Beach Bonny Hills) restarted the defunct Wauchope Surf Life Saving Club that patrolled Nobby's Beach in Port Macquarie from 1927 to 1937 when it folded prior to WWII.
We plan to have a get-together on the Friday night (17th) at the clubhouse, a dinner at Wauchope RSL Club on Saturday (18th) and a Barbeque Breakfast and Fun-Day with plenty of reminiscing at beautiful Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills on Sunday (19th). A 50 Year Anniversary Book of 160 Pages is being published with a DVD and CD that includes around 400 photos. All Members,ex-members and supporters are invited to celebrate with us.
