NSW WATER SAFETY AWARDS ANNOUNCED
It was another successful year for SLSNSW, clubs and members at the annual Water Safety Awards announced this week.

RAISING THE FLAGS OPENS NSW SEASON
The surf lifesaving season is off to a great start with the official Raising the Flags ceremony at North Steyne SLSC this morning. The new Minister launched the patrol season before a large media contingent, with the assistance of the North Steyne nippers and Ironwoman Naomi Flood. Best wishes to the patrols commencing this weekend and we hope you have a great patrolling season.

NATIONAL LEADERSHIP COLLEGE
The 2008 National Leadership College will be held from 1 - 6 December at Sydney University and is specially designed to further develop member skills in leadership. This is a great membership development opportunity for your club's future leaders.

VOLUNTEER GRANTS PROGRAM 2008
The Australian Government is inviting applications for funding under the Volunteer Grants Program 2008. The program provides funds to eligible organisations with volunteers actively working in the community. Organisations can apply for up to $5000 to support the work of volunteers, including purchasing small equipment and sporting items, or contributing to fuel costs. Applications close Friday 17 October, 2008.

YAMAHA CLUB RESCUE PROGRAM KICKS OFF - FIND OUT ABOUT SUBSIDISED EQUIPMENT
The Yamaha Club Rescue Program is a national initiative developed by Yamaha Motor Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia to enable clubs and branches across Australia to purchase heavily subsidised Yamaha surf rescue equipment. Applications close online on Monday 13 October, 2008.

2008/09 NSW DEPARTMENT OF SPORT AND RECREATION - LIFESAVING EQUIPMENT GRANT
Clubs are reminded that applications for the Lifesaving Equipment Grants are now due. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 26 September, 2008. Make sure your club doesn't miss out on the chance to update vital lifesaving equipment.

LIFESAVING SERVICE AGREEMENTS ARE NOW OVERDUE
Surf clubs, support operations and branches are reminded that Lifesaving Service Agreements were due at Surf Life Saving New South Wales by 1 September 2008. If you are yet to complete this requirement, please do so as soon as possible.

SLSNSW AND LAERDAL AUSTRALIA - CLUBS ORDER ONLINE FOR GREAT DISCOUNTS
A new online ordering system has been launched by SLSNSW and Laerdal Australia which will streamline the process of purchasing first aid training and rescue equipment. Great discounts are available to clubs.

The Australian Sports Commission has launched an online self-assessment tool to help identify the next generation of talented athletes. If you are aged 12 to 29, log onto eTID and find out if you've got what it takes. Visit

UPDATE YOUR CLUB DETAILS IN SURFGUARD
It's that time of year when SLSNSW requires all of your updated club information including names and contact details of office bearers etc. This year we are using Surfguard to update these important details - you'll find the
full instructions here. The circular with all the relevant information is also included under the Circulars & Memos heading above. Please remember that we need your contact information to be up to date as this is a requirement to ensure continued funding. Thank you in advance.

LIFEGUARDS - ALL AREAS
The Australian Lifeguard Service is a division of Surf Life Saving, designed to provide Lifesaving Services to local government, private corporations and the community. The Australian Lifeguard Service is the largest provider of professional lifeguards in Australia.
We are currently seeking the services of duly qualified people to perform Lifeguard duties in various areas from 29th September, 2008 to 24th April, 2009, during the Summer months and Christmas School Holidays. Lifeguard information and application packs can be downloaded from our website:

Endurance 2008 SLSNSW ANNOUNCES 2008 NSW ENDURANCE
CHAMPIONSHIP - 11 OCT, 2008, CRONULLA SLSC
If you're keen to enter the 2008 NSW Endurance Championships, which will run on 11 October 2008
at Cronulla SLSC, make sure you get your entry in soon. You'll find all the information you need,
including event details and application form in this circular. This event, which is open to the public and offers both running, surf swimming, board and ski events, always draws a big crowd. Age groups for the run include divisions for the U15, U17, U19, Opens, 30-39 Masters, 40-49 Masters,

Yamba SLSC is celebrating its centenary and has a number of events planned. These include:
• Yamba Centenary Craft Carnival - Saturday 27th September

FORSTER SLSC WEEKEND OF THE SURF 4-5 OCTOBER, 2008
This weekend of sporting competition and entertainment is on again and this year the club is inviting entries to run, swim, board and ski events that will run over during 4-5th October 2008. Entries and payments to be submitted by Monday 29th September 2008.
There will be a Lucky Draw for ‘KRACKA’ Board, sausage sizzle and host of events for all ages from under 10s to over 50s.

PHUKET STAGES FIRST EVER SURF LIFESAVING CARNIVAL
With support from its sister club, Cudgen Headland SLSC, the Thai island of Phuket is staging its first ever surf lifesaving carnival on 11 October, 2008. Held at the popular tourist destination, Patong Beach, the event will involve lifeguards from Thailand and surrounding Asian nations, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

WAUCHOPE BONNY HILLS SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB WILL BE CELEBRATING ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY
This special celebration will take place from the 17 to 19 October 2008.The 'new' club of Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC (patrolling at Rainbow Beach Bonny Hills) restarted the defunct Wauchope Surf Life Saving Club that patrolled Nobby's Beach in Port Macquarie from 1927 to 1937 when it folded prior to WWII.
We plan to have a get-together on the Friday night (17th) at the clubhouse, a dinner at Wauchope RSL Club on Saturday (18th) and a Barbeque Breakfast and Fun-Day with plenty of reminiscing at beautiful Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills on Sunday (19th). A 50 Year Anniversary Book of 160 Pages is being published with a DVD and CD that includes around 400 photos. All Members,ex-members and supporters are invited to celebrate with us.
