HLTAID008 Manage first aid services and resources

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace. The unit applies to workers in nominated occupational first aid or management roles.  

Cancellation Policy
An application for refund of course fees must be made in writing to Surf Life Saving NSW (Training Division). Where cancellation is made less than five (5) working days prior to the commencement of a course, 50% of the course fees will be charged. Participants who leave before finishing the course or do not commence their course without submitting a written refund request will be charged the full course fees.   • Procedures for dealing with major and minor accidents in the workplace
  • Safe storage and handling of medication in the workplace

Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency:

Entry Requirements

  • Participants must be a minimum of 15 years of age on the date of final assessment.
  • Participants must hold the following unit of competency: HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid or equivalent

To ensure your first aid skills and knowledge remain current, re-certification must occur within 3 years of the date of the final assessment. The CPR component, should be updated every twelve months from the date of assessment in order to maintain skills currency.

NOTE: SLSNSW is not a registered CRICOS provider (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) and as such it is a breach of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) for SLSNSW to deliver courses to an overseas student on a student visa (temporary graduate visa subclass 500 and 485).
