DESCRIPTION:The Coogee Island Challenge (spring edition) is the first ‘cut of the cake’ for swimmers looking to take on this epic island journey swim\, with its autumn equivalent having been held in April. \nThis swim offers the perfect opportunity to circumnavigate Wedding Cake Island\, a renowned rock reef just offshore from Coogee Beach in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs\, providing a stylish and challenging end to the ocean swimming season. \nThe event features three ocean swim distances: an 800m Junior Dash for our youngest competitors\, a 1km course within the relative safety of the bay\, and the 2.4km main event for those aged 13 years and over. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or new to ocean swimming\, this event promises an unforgettable experience. \nThis November\, and to coincide with National Skin Cancer Action Week\, we’re proud to partner with Skin Check Champions and the Melanoma Institute Australia to provide free skin checks and promote sun safety throughout the event. DESCRIPTION:Registrations have now closed for the SLSNSW Lifesaving Conference and we are looking forward to seeing hundreds of members in July.  If you are interested in joining the waitlist\, please contact Claire Bevis. \nTravel and Accommodation Subsidies \nDriving \nMembers driving to the conference from MNC\, LNC\, HUN\, CC\, SNB\, SYD\, ILL\, SC and FSC will be able to claim mileage subsidies (capped amounts dependent on location) by completing an expense claim form with the kilometres travelled.  These subsidy amounts are based on average mileage distances\, and are as follows: \n\nMNC: $450 (fuel)\nLNC: $420 (fuel)\nHUN: $320 (fuel)\nCC: $195 (fuel)\nSNB: $80 (fuel)\nSYD: $55 (fuel)\nILL: $120 (fuel)\nSC: $240 (fuel)\nFSC: $500 (fuel)\n\nParking will be available at the Stamford Plaza Hotel throughout the conference and will also be covered for the duration of your stay.  Please bring your parking ticket to the registration desk for validation prior to your departure. \nFlights \nFlights for members travelling to and from the conference will be subsidised.  Flights will need to be booked by the individual/club\, and an expense claim form submitted (with proof of purchase / ticket receipt).  Subsidy figures for each member are listed below and are based on average airline ticket prices.  Please note that ticket prices traditionally rise as the departure date nears.   \n\nFNC: $350 (flights)\nNC: $400 (flights)\nMNC: $450 (flights)\nLNC $450 (flights)\nFSC: $550 (flights)\n\nAirport Transfers \nMembers flying to the conference can arrive on Friday 26th July to ensure that they are ready for the conference start on Saturday morning. Members who choose to fly on Saturday 27th July will need to arrive prior to 8.30am as conference registration will take place between 8.30-9.30am. \nThe conference will end with lunch on Sunday 28th July\, and we recommend that return flights depart any time after 2.00pm. \nThis venue is a 1km walk or a short Taxi/Uber ride from the airport\, and reimbursements for transfers will be available. Please note there is no shuttle bus transfer. \nAccommodation \nDue to the recent availability of flights and ongoing flight delays and cancellations to and from Sydney\, the SLSNSW Board has approved for accommodation to be offered to members flying into Sydney for the conference on both Friday and Saturday. \nFriday and Saturday night accommodation is available to members from FNC\, NC\, MNC\, LNC\, HUN\, SC and FSC. \nSaturday night accommodation is available to members from CC and ILL. \nMembers from Sydney/Sydney Northern Beaches can choose to join the rest of the participants for breakfast on the Sunday morning from 7:00am.

DESCRIPTION:The Coogee Island Challenge (autumn edition) is the second ‘cut of the cake’ for swimmers looking to take on this epic Wedding Cake Island ocean swim\, with its spring equivalent having been held in November last year. \nThe event offers three ocean swim distances; an 800m Junior Dash for 10-12yrs\, a 1km course in the relative safety of the bay\, and the 2.4km main event\, the later two distances for swimmers aged 13 years and over. \nThis swim is the perfect opportunity to circumnavigate Wedding Cake Island\, a little rock reef sitting offshore from Coogee Beach in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs\, and end the ocean swimming season in style.

The Competition Safety Committee has made the decision to cancel the weekend’s events in the interests of member safety due to the risk to crews and officials travelling to the event on Friday. As the extreme weather is likely to linger into Saturday\, the completion of a full program of racing is unrealistic. \n\n\n \n\n\nWhile disappointing\, we hope that all members stay safe over the coming days and we wish all those crews going to the Aussies the very best of luck.\n\n. \n. \n. \nThe SLSNSW Surf Boat Inter–Series Championship will showcase the best crews from the five surf boat competitions in NSW.
