Black Head Beach To Remain Closed
Surf Life Saving NSW is advising the public, members, and media that Black Head Beach (Hallidays Point) on the Lower North Coast will remain closed for a further 24 hours following Friday’s shark attack on a 65-year-old club member.
After consulting with local police, the Black Head SLSC has recommended that in the interests of public safety, beach closure signs will remain in place throughout Monday.
Lifesavers will use an Inflatable Rescue Boat to conduct a sweep of the area later today, with a decision on when to remove the signs to be made by Police and the Council.
“Friday’s attack was a huge shock for everyone and the Black Head surf club is keen to ensure the local community is kept safe,” said NSW Lifesaving Manager Andy Kent.
Beaches in the region remain unpatrolled until Saturday 19 September when volunteer surf lifesavers raise the flags for the new season.
