Surf Life Saving Foundation

The Surf Life Saving Foundation undertake fundraising activities on behalf of all Surf Clubs across Australia.

Surf Life Saving Foundation

The Surf Life Saving Foundation was established to ensure Surf Life Saving’s financial sustainability. They do this by engaging with the wider Australian community and initiating and managing fundraising programs aimed at maximising funds available for the Surf Life Saving movement.

Fundraising Activity

The Surf Life Saving Foundation carry out weekly raffle ticket sales at shopping centres and a monthly giving program (face-to-face door knocking) called Guardians Of The Surf.

Fundraising is critical to the financial sustainability of Surf Life Saving and the Foundations door-to-door appeals play an important role.

Despite significant advances in technology, techniques and knowledge, people still drown on the coast in unacceptable numbers. Through fundraisers and the generosity of the communities we are a part of,the Foundation is able to raise much-needed funds for life saving equipment, water safety education and training.

The Foundation maintains the highest of standards around legal and ethical fundraising practices and is a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA). They also comply with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Good Governance Principles and Guidance for NFP Organisations.

A full list of the current face-to-face door knocking locations can be downloaded below. If you would like to provide feeback about one of these fundraising activities, please contact the Surf Life Saving Foundation directly on 1800 642 925 or email foundation@slsfoundation.com.au

Circle Of Friends

The Surf Life Saving Foundation has developed relationships with individuals who have advised they are leaving a gift in their Will to a Surf Life Saving entity. In doing so, they become a member of Surf Life Saving’s ‘Circle of Friends’. These individuals are an important asset to the movement and the services provided by Surf Life Saving.

To maintain and strengthen the relationship between these individuals and Surf Life Saving, the Foundation is now trialing a Circle of Friends champion concept. We are seeking Surf Life Saving members who could volunteer a couple of hours a few times a year, to meet some of these wonderful supporters, who may reside in your general area, for a cuppa and a chat - updating them on Surf Life Saving activities.

If you’re interested in being involved, please contact Kath Joynt, Supporter Relationship Manager for SLS Foundation, with your name and contact details including your postcode. Kath will happily answer any questions and guide you through the process.
