Recruitment Toolkit

Join Flyer

Download the Join Flyer to find out and share the different ways you can get involved in the water, on the sand or at the club.  This approach works for all types of new members – showcasing that there is a role for everyone in Surf Life Saving!

Create Customisable Resources using Canva

A range of ready-made and customisable templates are available for you to download here. These include social media tiles and posters, which have been created for ease of upload into free graphic design tool, Canva. Also included here is an image library and handy how-to use Canva guide.

Be sure to check out ‘10 Social Media Hacks for Clubs’ to help ensure your platforms are working as best they can,  Reminder to ensure that all moderators are familiar with SLSA Social Media Policy 6.20.

Recruitment Videos

A series of videos promoting “our Club is your Club” campaign are available here in 30 and 60 second versions. These videos highlight the concept that surf clubs are more than just a building or a service – they are a home, a family and community.

It Means More Campaign Resources

Access and download the short videos (Reels) and square images for social media use via this Dropbox folder. This social media campaign aims to show the aspects of the club, ‘It’s more than a club’, outside patrols. Use the hashtag #ItMeansMore24 and #MySurfLife and tag Surf Life Saving NSW pages so we can share too.

Trailers and Collateral

SLSNSW no longer maintains the red recruitment trailers, and Clubs who are looking for support in attending community events and activities are encouraged to contact their Branch who have a range of engagement collateral available.

Engaging past members is a great way to boost your membership, and with the use of SurfGuard records – much of the hard work is already done for you! Check out these templates for targeted, personalised and positive emails that can be sent to identified groups asking them to consider re-joining the club this coming season.

For any assistance with extracting reports from Surfguard for contacting, please contact your Branch or the SLSNSW Membership Team.

Clubs looking for youth recruitment and retention support can refer to this 6-step plan, featuring ideas which can be implemented in both a lifesaving and social setting. Motivate nippers and young lifesavers in continuing their membership and surf lifesaving activities and requires minimal funding or resources.

A club member induction is a great way to ensure that new members feel part of the club.  This template is a great starting point for your club checklist.  To access a word version for editing, please contact the SLSNSW Membership Team
