In 2022-23 tragically we saw 48 drownings along our NSW coastline and over 4,000 rescues conducted by our volunteer lifesavers and lifeguards. This year, once again all indicators are pointing to what will be a very busy patrolling period for SLSNSW over the summer and Christmas holiday period.
We are anticipating warmer weather, attractive beach conditions, greater beach visitation numbers along the coastline, all of which will likely result in increased numbers of interventions and rescues by our members.
SLSNSW are aware that we have several clubs in need and these clubs will be under significant pressure this summer to maintain appropriate patrolling strength and capability, and as a collective lifesaving family, we are rallying to support them.
Following the success of last year’s effort, we are again coordinating a Patrol Support Program for clubs listed below. We are calling for Expressions of Interest from members wishing to support these clubs as visiting patrolling members over the summer and Christmas holiday period.
This is a great opportunity to utilise your lifesaving skills at another beach location, and at the same time visit some amazing coastal destinations. The clubs seeking support are:
