#BEACHSTORMERS // Clear your calendar... the Beach Stormers Series returns this month and this time, it’s gone national! ⚡
 
We’re counting down to a summer of fast feet, flying sand and races that keep everyone guessing, kicking off in NSW at South Maroubra on 31 October. With legs all over the country, we’re going to see the best of the best competing!

Heading to the beach as the weather warms up? We’ve teamed up with our proud partner @qantas to help keep beachgoers safe this season.

Before you hit the sand, remember:
🔴🟡 Swim at a patrolled beach, between the red and yellow flags
🌊 Look out for rips. They often look like calmer water between breaking waves
🙋 Listen to the advice of surf lifesavers
☀️ Wear a hat, long-sleeve shirt and sunscreen, and seek shade

And don’t forget to complete your Beach Passport before you arrive. It’s your boarding pass for the beach. Qantas Frequent Flyers will receive 150 Qantas Points for completing the Beach Passport and go into the draw to win 1 million points.

#MYSURFLIFE // Calling ALL young lifesavers aged 18-25! 🔴🟡

The 18-25 program is back for 2026-27! Hosted at The Rocks in Sydney, this program brings young lifesavers from across NSW together to connect, discover new opportunities, share ideas and build lasting connections. It’s being held from 27-29 November and SLSNSW will cover the cost of travel, food and accommodation. Whether you’re looking to build your network, or learn about the pathways available within Surf Life Saving, this program is not to be missed.

#DRONES // Flags are UP and school is OUT! ☀️

Drones are scheduled to operate every day at all NSW UAV locations during the spring school holidays.
 
While some Local Government Areas already have daily drone operations across some or all UAV locations, this will be a bigger change for others, with every NSW UAV location flying daily throughout the holiday period.

We’d like to remind everyone that drone operations will also run at every NSW UAV location from 1 December to 30 April as part of the 2026/27 drone flying schedule.
 
Beachgoers, clubs and local communities are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the full schedule via the website.
Download the @nsw_sharksmart app for more information, to get alerts when the drones aren’t flying, and real-time shark notifications.

#MEMBERS // We had the chance to catch up with Tilly before she headed to Fiji 🌴
 
Mona Vale SLSC’s @tilly.rosecooper is already making her mark through surf lifesaving, community work and now, a children’s book with an important water safety message.
 
With Tilly currently in Fiji, we caught up with her before she left to chat about what surf lifesaving means to her, how Mona Vale SLSC has helped shape her confidence, and why she wanted to create something that could help young children learn more about safety in and around the water.
 
Her debut book, A Day of New Adventures, draws on her own experience in surf lifesaving and shares messages of confidence, community and water safety in a way younger readers can connect with. Tilly also spoke about her connection to Fiji, her community projects, and why giving back is such a big part of who she is.
