#ICYMI // On Tuesday 30 January, members of Bondi SBLSC, Coogee SLSC and Elouera SLSC were training for the upcoming IRB racing season when four foreign swimmers became stuck in a rip.

The group was in the process of packing up when a member of the public alerted them to the incident unfolding not far from their location at around 7.15pm.

#ROTM // In a rescue illustrating that surf sports stars are lifesavers first and foremost, members of the South Curl Curl SLSC boat crew have been recognised for performing the Surf Life Saving NSW Rescue of the Month for October 2023 after their efforts in assisting struggling swimmers back to shore who were washed off a sandbank and out to sea.

#MYSURFLIFE // There were a few Branch Championships run over the weekend, with Age competitors getting their final hit out before State in just over a month's time.

While competition was going our lifesavers remained on duty, performing an amazing 30,627 preventative actions!

#ALA // 1 Million Participants! 🎉

This week the Australian Lifesaving Academy (ALA) hit a huge milestone, training its 1 millionth participant across NSW and the ACT.

The ALA was established in 2004 with the purpose to train members of the public with lifesaving skills, not just on the beaches, but in our workplaces, homes and community.

To mark the occasion, ALA management and the Chair of the Surf Life Saving Services Board, Stephen Bennett, joined a course in Campbelltown and personally donated a free AED to the staff and principal of Lomandra School.

Well done to the ALA on this massive achievement, and to all involved. What a way to mark 20 years in service!

#BOARDRIDING // The SLSNSW Board Riding Championship Committee has met this afternoon to determine the feasibility of staging the 2024 Board Riding Championships at Merewether SLSC this weekend.

Due to a hazardous surf warning in place for Saturday, and forecasted unfavourable board riding conditions and consistent heavy rainfall for the entire weekend, the Committee have postponed the Championships.

#LIFESAVING // That’s the 2023/24 patrolling season done and dusted ❤️💛

Thankyou to our amazing volunteer lifesavers who spent countless hours on the beach this summer ensuring that beach goers were safe within their community.

More than one million preventative actions were taken by lifesavers this season, sending people safely back home to their families.
