Surf Life Saving Foundation

Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) leads national fundraising activities that generate essential funding for the Surf Life Saving movement.

Through a range of philanthropic and fundraising initiatives, including prize home lotteries, funds are distributed to Surf Life Saving State and Territory entities to support frontline surf lifesaving services across Australia.

Australia’s coastline spans more than 59,000 kilometres and includes over 11,500 beaches, attracting an estimated 300 million visits each year. Volunteer surf lifesavers play a vital role in keeping these beaches safe. Across the country, more than 46,000 dedicated volunteers patrol 316 Surf Life Saving Clubs (SLSCs), helping ensure Australia remains home to some of the safest beaches in the world.

Funds raised support Surf Life Saving entities to:

• Maintain and replace lifesaving equipment
• Deliver training and development for volunteer surf lifesavers
• Expand community surf safety education programs
• Support aquatic safety research and innovation

National Fundraising Programs

Raise Funds for Your Club

SLSA has made it easier for SLSCs to raise funds through their own dedicated and customisable Surf Life Saving Lotteries web page.

• 50% of each lottery ticket purchased via a club’s page is returned directly to that SLSC
• SLSA reinvests the remaining revenue into operating and delivering the program (it does not generate profit from this activity)

SLSA manages the setup, maintenance and optimisation of all club pages on the dedicated Surf Lottery website. Clubs are encouraged to maximise this opportunity by promoting their page through existing communication channels such as email, newsletters and social media. Both supporters and SLS members are eligible to purchase lottery tickets.

Surf Life Saving Lotteries

Surf Life Saving Lotteries raises vital funds through the sale of lottery tickets.

Each year, SLSA operates six prize home lotteries, offering supporters the chance to win luxury homes, gold bullion, brand new vehicles and gift vouchers.

The Champions Club is a member loyalty (subscriber) program that provides:

• Entry into every prize home draw
• A monthly $50,000 cash draw
• A $1,000 monthly birthday draw
• Enhanced prize opportunities and exclusive member-only draws

Tickets are available:

• Online

• By phone via 1800 642 999
• Through direct communications (email, mail and telemarketing)
• Via authorised face-to-face fundraising in selected locations

SLSA engages trained representatives through authorised partner agencies to promote lottery tickets and subscriptions. These representatives:

• Raise awareness of Surf Life Saving
• Introduce supporters to Surf Life Saving Lotteries
• Process secure purchases using electronic devices

They do not collect charitable donations.

Philanthropic Giving

SLSA delivers a range of philanthropic programs aligned to its vision of zero preventable deaths in Australian waters.

These include:

• Annual appeals and fundraising campaigns
• Guardians of the Surf, a regular giving program supporting lifesaving services through monthly donations
• Surf Life Legacy, a gift-in-Will program enabling members and supporters to leave a lasting contribution to Surf Life Saving

SLSA manages the gift-in-Will process:

• 100% of gifts directed to a nominated SLSC are passed directly to that club
• Gifts made to SLSA are distributed to Surf Life Saving State and Territory entities to support frontline priorities

All philanthropic fundraising is conducted online, via email, mail or telemarketing. SLSA does not solicit charitable donations in person.
