Man winched to safety on Mid North Coast

A man has been extricated from a rocky outcrop off the headland at Trial Bay on the state’s Mid North Coast after Surf Life Saving assets from the closest club, South West Rocks SLSC, were called to a man in distress.

Incredible first rescue for rookie lifeguard

Just a handful of patrols into her lifesaving journey, Iluka SLSC volunteer and Australian Lifeguard Service employee Lillian Young may have already completed her most daring and remarkable rescue – saving a kangaroo from choppy surf on New Year’s Eve.

Lifesavers get through biggest operational period in five years

Three days of hot weather, challenging surf and large crowds at our beaches has resulted in the busiest starts to a new year in recent memory, as Surf Life Saving NSW lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers were faced with a record number of incidents, rescues and preventative actions up and down the coastline.

Lifesavers challenged for a second day

A second consecutive exceptionally busy day for Surf Life Saving NSW volunteer lifesavers and lifeguards has resulted in one fatality, a successful resuscitation and several high category serious incidents registered across the state.
