Weeks of heavy rain on the Tweed River did little to wash away the community spirit, with the four Surf Life Saving Clubs in the area combining to bring relief to affected families – most recently, lending their resources to a devastated school in need of transporting its students.
Lifesavers Come to the Rescue in Floods
When the callout came on Monday 28 February for volunteers and with flood waters rising around the state, more than 500 Surf Lifesavers put up their hands to help. To date, more than 700 volunteers have been involved in one of the state’s biggest natural disasters.
