Community Honours For Surf Lifesavers

The influence of surf lifesavers in the wider community extends well beyond the beach and this has once again been acknowledged in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours Awards announced on Monday.

New Life Members Honoured At State Champs

It was a day to remember at the recent NSW Surf Life Saving Championships at Blacksmiths Beach for a group of distinguished lifesavers who were presented to the wider movement as the latest inductees of the exclusive club of State Life Members.

Profile of the Month: Jerrad Allen

Our profile of the month for March is Jerrad Allen from Pacific Palms SLSC. The Club Captain has been heavily involved with the Lower North Coast based club for the last six years after returning to the movement through his children. Jerrad has a strong passion for lifesaving that began back in the 1980s as a Nipper and he continues to give back through his time with a particular interest in training new members.

Junior Lifesavers Crowned NSW Best

It’s been a memorable day for two young lifesavers who capped off their Nipper careers in impressive style by winning the Junior Lifesaver of the Year award (JLOTY) in Sydney on Thursday.

Surf Life Saving NSW is saddened to hear of the recent passing of Life Member, Order of Australia Medal recipient, and Collaroy identity Mr William ‘Bill’ Goodman.

Profile of the Month: Tammy Cook

Our Profile of the Month for April is Tammy Cook from Narrabeen Beach SLSC. Tammy is one of the coordinators of the highly successful ‘Narra Water Rats’ Youth Development Program and just this season celebrated 10 years as a surf lifesaver.

Profile of the Month: Michael Bonnici

Our Profile of the Month for May is Michael Bonnici from Wanda SLSC. At the ripe old age of 19, Michael has already made an outstanding contribution to the Surf Life Saving movement, which includes recently being announced as the U19 Lifesaver of the Year for the Sydney Branch.
