An all-round surf lifesaver, North Bondi’s Paul Hotton, was acknowledged for his outstanding contribution to education at the annual Awards of Excellence in Sydney last weekend.


Hotton is a valued member of the education team at North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, and is the current Surf Life Saving Sydney Waverly District Education Supervisor and Lead Assessor.



In season 2017/18, Paul contributed more than 60 volunteer hours and assessed approximately 65% of the Waverly District Assessments.



He has also previously served as the Chief Training Officer at North Bondi SLSC.



He mentors numerous new trainers and assessors, and has recently completed his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. 



Paul has created one page summary “Cheat Sheets” for trainers and assessors to be able to consistently undertake skill refreshers. At a local club level Paul has developed resource folders to assist trainers and assessors provide quality education programs.



A special interest of his is Mental Health First Aid and he recently wrote an education proposal to have this vital work recognised as an official lifesaving award.



The 2018 SLSNSW Awards of Excellence are proudly supported by Port Authority of New South Wales with almost 400 of Surf Life Saving’s most outstanding lifesavers, athletes, educators, coaches, and administrators from around the state gathering at Dockside, Cockle Bay to celebrate the season that was.
