SLSA has advised that, following social media and also direct enquiries they are receiving, there are strong rumours circulating about SLSA having already made a decision to take the Aussies to QLD in 2022. This has, in some instances, prompted some clubs to commence booking accommodation at rumoured alternate site locations.

SLSA wishes to reiterate that no decision has been made.

  • The Australian Championships are still scheduled to be held in Perth, Western Australia from April 2-10.
  • Surf Life Saving Australia is in regular dialogue with Tourism Western Australia in regards to the COVID-19 and border situation.
  • Contrary to speculation, no decision has been made to shift the 2022 Aussies to an alternate venue state.
  • The Board of Surf Life Saving Australia will consider the matter in November and advise accordingly should there be any changes to the location due to COVID-19 situation and circumstances in Western Australia.
