Caves Beach SLSC continues to set the standard for IRB racing in NSW, picking up a round win and subsequently the Sharkskin NSW Premiership Series title at Warilla Barrack Point on Sunday 15 June.
It’s an ominous warning to the rest of the competition with under two weeks to go until the Sharkskin NSW IRB Championships at Cape Hawke, as the Hunter-based club proved its taste for victory is as strong and unsatisfied as ever – even now, three years into a run of utter dominance across the Premiership and Championship events.
Despite a formidable showing in the over age categories, Kiama Downs SLSC had to settle for second once more while Thirroul SLSC were standout performers in finishing third.
The Illawarra-based club and eventual fourth place finishers, North Cronulla SLSC were both enormously improved on last year’s showing.
Thirroul managed to more than double their 2024 total as they jumped from fifth onto the podium this time around, while North Cronulla were six times better in 2025, amassing 317 points, including doing enough for an overall third-place finish in Round 1, to cap a stellar campaign.
Standout individual team results across the Round 4 weekend on the South Coast included South Maroubra’s U23 Female Mass squad, Gone With The Win picking up a result befitting their name – the 10 points accumulated in their win helping them to take the overall victory in the category.
That particular result was one of many strong ones in the U23 Female events for South Maroubra.
Elsewhere, the Tony Hawks of Queenscliff SLSC picked up a round win and a Series win in the Over 35 Male Mass, Newport SLSC’s Foam Fighters claimed the Series win in the Open Male Tube despite settling for third in Round 4, and North Avoca SLSC’s HIT N MISS were too good in the U23 Female Tube.
Meanwhile, Thirroul’s KNOT SHORE confirmed a clean sweep of all four race weekends with victory once again in the U23 Male Rescue.
Racing will pick up for the fifth and final time at state level for the season on the Lower North Coast on Friday 27 June for the first of three days of the 2025 Sharkskin NSW IRB Championships.
